about
Bristolian producer Claude Cooper has joined forces with Brooklyn vocalist Brain Fog on an inspired, turbo-speed follow up to Cooper's hotly received debut 'Myriad Sounds' from January this year. In advance of news of a full length album together, the duo release their first single 'Tangerine Dreams', which brazenly declares "Eating your scones/I like the way it feels when you're jumping my bones" over a whirlpool of cymbal crashes and snaking bass.
An irrepressible mélange of psychedelic-funk, jazz-breaks and end of the century tr*p-h*p colliding with punk spirit, ‘Myriad Sounds' caught the attention of the UK's press and radio alike. Mojo's four star review described it as “Bristol’s beat scene backdrops late night jams”, Uncut enjoyed the "rugged psych-funk romp" and Louder than War declared "it’s vital and vibrant and exactly what we need to kick start the year”. BBC radio DJs including Cerys Matthews, Gideon Coe, Huw Stephens, Jamie Cullum, Lauren Laverne, Stuart Maconie, Tom Ravenscroft rinsed the singles, with Huey Morgan inviting Cooper to contribute a Block Party Mix for his show.
With things bubbling on this side of the Atlantic, news travelled all the way to Brooklyn's Brain Fog. While on a voyage of discovery, searching for the perfect music to compliment notebooks of his carefully crafted lyrics, he travelled from Brooklyn to Bristol via Berlin, Budapest and Brussels. Tracking down the illusive Cooper through a web of clues and local references alluded to on 'Myriad Sounds', an immediate connection was made over a rapid exchange of thoughts on the melting pots and similarities between Bristol and Brooklyn and how Brain Fog felt he could fit into Cooper's wild soundscapes.
Details of a full length LP by Claude Cooper & Brain Fog will be announced in September
